Organic Root Stimulator Herbal Cleanse Review

I am back, and with a review! If most of you been following me for a while you would know that my favorite my favorite protective style is Yarn Braid, also known as Genie Locs.

The problem has always been cleansing my scalp. Diluted shampoo always seemed to leave a film on, and conditioning...forget it! I had to figure out something quick because between dirt and my natural oils building out, my scalp seemed to take on a grayish hue; definitely not cute!

Now I know I have said that Baking Soda, Water, and Apple Cider Vinegar, paired with a tooth brush worked fine, But that required being rinsed out well otherwise it would leave a white residue on your scalp or hair (yarn) itself. It is actually pretty good for Locs as well.

I wanted to use it a few times before I could say how well it worked and whether I liked it it, and by the 3rd use, I fell in love.



The ingredients list as:
Ingredients: Water Aqua, AlcoholTetrahydroxypropyl, Aloe Vera Aloe Barbadensis, Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine, Wheat Amino Acids, FD&C Blue No. 1 CI 42090, Kola Nut Extract Cola Acuminata, Nettle Extract Urtica Dioica, Lavender Oil Lavandula Angustifolia, Basil Oil Cocimum Basilicum


The directions for use are: Directions to cleanse scalp: Apply a generous amount directly to the hair and massage. Let sit on hair for 1 minute. Remove residue with a warm damp towel. Directions to cleanse hair: Apply a small amount of product to towel, wipe each braid, lock or twist individually to refreshen hair. For a deeper cleansing: Saturate hair with Herbal Cleanse and wrap hair with a warm moist towel. Leave on for 15 minutes and wipe out residue with towel.

Which is not so bad for something that is considered a"dry shampoo". Though technically there is a wet aspect to it..


It brought it from a local Beauty Supply Store (BSS) for $4.99 USD. Used it 3 times and only have gotten through a quarter of the bottle, which is 8.5 fl oz.

It smells of alcohol mixed with lavender which I did not like at first but it gives the scalp a refreshing feel, it would not cleanse if it did not have alcohol in it.

I do not really wait the 15 minutes, just until I have saturated my entire scalp by following the parts from my hairline to nape; which is vertical, all the way until I reach the other side of my head.
Then like the directions said, I use a warm water and dampen my towel and follow the same sections and rub vigorously.

Yes dirt will get on the towel but essentially that is the point. Grossly enough how I check if it is clean is to scratch my scalp and see if any dirt is underneath my nail. If so, I add a bit more cleanser to the spot desired and take my damp towel and rub some more. FYI: rinse and re-dampen between sections!

Altogether the whole process can take 25-30 minutes. To combat the dryness the cleanser causes due to the alcohol. I spray Ginseng Miracle Wonder 8 Oil on my scalp. So not only is my scalp freshly cleaned, but moisturized.

You can use any oil of your preference though, massage it in, or applied with an applicator bottle. I just found that the spray is easier because my braids are waist length. (WL)

I love, love, love this product. I rate it 4/5 only because of the smell and the labeling says that you do not need water when in actuality you do.

Guess what?

I'm braided up again! You guys I couldn't take it! I found myself with little to no time to take care of my hair, and doing the same 2 styles all the time. So I decided to braid my Locs back in.

By far it is my favorite style, not because I have gotten a million compliments on them (which helps lol) but because I have always wanted Locs but I do not have the density to have them look they way I would want them to. Perhaps if I didnt have bald spots but, c'est la vie.

Yarn is really hard to come by (no Walmarts in NYC) so I had to find a Michael's Craft Store, after walking around for an hour and half looking for independent Yarn stores. I bought a huge bundle for $9.49 USD, and I would say that I used more than half of it. It took me over the course of y2 days to put them in (roughly 20 hours). They are much thicker than last time, but that's probably because I tripled up on the strands in the back. (Figutedd I had the yarn, so why not. Lol)

Again I love them! I've already been trying to experiment with styles. I'll be keeping them in the whole summer, and cleansing my scalp with a backing soda, water, ACV mix, with a handy dandy toothbrush.

Review- Tangle Teezer

I have not done a review in a while, so I figured I finally get around to doing one. Usually I do product reviews, because it is rare when I try a new "tool" but because of all the raves I have heard about it, I thought it would be nice if you guys heard my opinion.

Now I did not pay for this tool (lol) it was given to me as a gift as part of the Christmas Raffle, back on my Home Forum (BHP) I love the ladies over there! Anyway getting back to the review. I have the green one, and it is a seafoam kind of green, which I find pretty. I am not exactly sure where she bought mine from, because Sally Beauty only sells them in the Original Pink, Purple, and Black, colors.

So perhaps Amazon? I am terrible I know. Either way, no matter the color, they are sold for $9.99 USD at most locations. They should be in your, again, local Sally Beauty Supply, regular Beauty Supply Store, or online on websites such as, Amazon.

The purpose of the Tangle Teezer is pretty much in the tool's name; basically to detangle hair. I have been using this tool for a couple of months now, and I absolutely love it! I was afraid that the teeth would snag my hair, because the seemed fine, but with the help of conditioner, it glides through my hair. I also hear very little to know snapping (You know the snap sound your hair makes after it stretched too much, and snaps off), opposed to when I use to use a paddle brush to detangle.

The one flaw I can really say about it is that your hair kind of stays in it (Lol). The best way at least I found, to clean it is to run it underwater with it turned slightly sideways. It helps loosen the hair, so you can use the other hand to grab it out of there. I suppose hair texture has to do with how the hair stays in the tool as well. I am a 4a (with the tiniest part of 3c in the back).

Honestly I do not see me detangling with another tool, it has actually made co-washing somewhat pleasurable, which I have been doing a lot lately for Puffs. (Yes, I have finally ventured off into the world of Puffs!) I would NOT suggest using it without having your hair saturated in some kind of conditioner.

 It is a great product, it definitely works for those with Natural Hair, it is sort of pricey depending on what your view of pricey is, but it is worth every penny!

I give it a 4.5 out of 5. (Only because it takes a little work to get the hair out of it)
