Vidal Sassoon's Pro Series VS Color Shampoo & Conditioner Product Review

As far as hair goes, I haven't been up to much. Been rocking a slightly altered Wash n' Go Puff. I'll let you all know what I mean but slightly altered in a later post.  What I am here to tell you guys about now is Vidal Sasson's Pro Series VS Color Shampoo & Conditioner.

He is the father of Asymmetrical cuts. Has salons everywhere, has a documentary, the man is legend. Anyway, back to the review.

The VS Color Shampoo comes in a red bottle. The shampoo itself is a pearl white, and has a slightly thick consistency, think V05 or Suave, but just an smidget thicker. It has a perfumey scent. It lathers up wonderfully, but it is a Sulfate poo, so that is what it is suppose to do. After not washing my hair for more than a week, one wash left my strands feeling clean. I shampooed one more time just for good measure. Though my hair was still wet I did like how my hair felt clean, but not completely stripped. Also a whole bunch of my color wasn't washing down the drain, which is awesome, because that was something I was experiencing with V05 Moisture Milks.

Now you guys should know I'm not a shampoo girl, I'll wash my hair with just about anything, but this shampoo, seemed to like my hair, and my hair liked it back. It's filled with stuff I can't name, and though I'm new to color shampoo's, I'm sure is normal. The first ingredient is water, so that's pretty cool.  5/5 for the poo, that is for us colored girls! (That sounds horrible, but you guys know what I mean lol)

Just for those of you who are wondering, here's the ingredient list.


VS Color Shampoo 
 Water/EAU, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Glycol Disterate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Citrate, Cocamide Mea, Sodium Xylenefum, Dimethicone, Citric Acid, Polyquaternium-6, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone.





Now on to the conditioner. It comes in a white bottle. It has the same coloring and consistency of the shampoo because of that you have to be generous when using. The scent is reminiscent of an inflatable plastic pool. Lol. It smells horrible!At least in my own opinion. If you can get past the plastic smell, the conditioner is amazing! It works just as well if not better than my beloved Suave Professionals Almond & Shea. It leaves my curls bouncy and moisturized, the only thing missing is a lovely scent, but the results are worth it.

I believe I got them on sale, but I think it is individually sold for $3.84 USD, at least at Rite Aid. Which is a more than reasonable price. I rate the conditioner 4/5 just because of the scent, or lack thereof.

Overall, these products are great and work well with each other, or separately and are very easy on the products. I would like to explore other color protecting shampoo's and conditioners, but this one seems like it will be a staple.

Review- Tangle Teezer

I have not done a review in a while, so I figured I finally get around to doing one. Usually I do product reviews, because it is rare when I try a new "tool" but because of all the raves I have heard about it, I thought it would be nice if you guys heard my opinion.

Now I did not pay for this tool (lol) it was given to me as a gift as part of the Christmas Raffle, back on my Home Forum (BHP) I love the ladies over there! Anyway getting back to the review. I have the green one, and it is a seafoam kind of green, which I find pretty. I am not exactly sure where she bought mine from, because Sally Beauty only sells them in the Original Pink, Purple, and Black, colors.

So perhaps Amazon? I am terrible I know. Either way, no matter the color, they are sold for $9.99 USD at most locations. They should be in your, again, local Sally Beauty Supply, regular Beauty Supply Store, or online on websites such as, Amazon.

The purpose of the Tangle Teezer is pretty much in the tool's name; basically to detangle hair. I have been using this tool for a couple of months now, and I absolutely love it! I was afraid that the teeth would snag my hair, because the seemed fine, but with the help of conditioner, it glides through my hair. I also hear very little to know snapping (You know the snap sound your hair makes after it stretched too much, and snaps off), opposed to when I use to use a paddle brush to detangle.

The one flaw I can really say about it is that your hair kind of stays in it (Lol). The best way at least I found, to clean it is to run it underwater with it turned slightly sideways. It helps loosen the hair, so you can use the other hand to grab it out of there. I suppose hair texture has to do with how the hair stays in the tool as well. I am a 4a (with the tiniest part of 3c in the back).

Honestly I do not see me detangling with another tool, it has actually made co-washing somewhat pleasurable, which I have been doing a lot lately for Puffs. (Yes, I have finally ventured off into the world of Puffs!) I would NOT suggest using it without having your hair saturated in some kind of conditioner.

 It is a great product, it definitely works for those with Natural Hair, it is sort of pricey depending on what your view of pricey is, but it is worth every penny!

I give it a 4.5 out of 5. (Only because it takes a little work to get the hair out of it)

Sunny Isle Rosemary Jamaican Black Castor Oil Review (and Spot Comparison)

I'm back as promised, and I am here to do a review on Sunny Isle's Rosemary Jamaican Black Castor Oil. I have to admit, that this was an oil to get use to, as I usually use Tropical Isle Lavender Jamaican Castor Oil, and the are some differences!

* Please note that I did not purchase this JBCO. It was given to me, so I have no idea of how the shipping process works.

If you buy Sunny Isle Rosemary directly from the distributor's site, this JBCO goes for $10.99 USD for an 8 ounce, excluding shipping costs, which I am assuming will vary, depending on where you live.

Rosemary oil, which I assuming makes the "Rosemary" part to this JBCO, is an essential oil. Essential oils are oils that have an aromatic compound, which makes it great addition to hair care products to give it a pleasant scent. This essential oil in particular has been know to help with stimulating hair growth, which is why it is a good combination to have with JBCO having the ability to help thickening ones hair.

Do not use Rosemary Oil while pregnant.

For easy application, I put this oil in a applicator bottle, I like to be more careful with oils that are harder for me to restock, or a bit pricey!

This is around the time where I do my Cayenne Pepper growth comparisons, but this has been the only "growth aid" I have been using, as I ran out of Cayenne Pepper, and have yet to restock. I refuse to buy a small tin for 5 bucks, so as soon as I see some reasonably priced Cayenne pepper, I will get back to doing my treatments. I have to admit that my regimen has been a teensy bit easier without doing them though, less stuff to do on wash day!

I have been using the oil alone, for a little over a month now, and like I have said before, there are some slight differences between Sunny Isle brand, and Tropical Isle Brand.

Sunny Isle has a thicker consistency, than Tropical Isle. It also has a darker coloring, which could mean a higher ash content.

The Ash comes from the process in which JBCO is extracted, it comes from a seed. The seeds are roasted to release the oil. It is believed that salt can be added to extract more oil, but this is what causes more ash, this ash is carbon, which also effects the consistency.

It is believed that the less ash in the JBCO, means more potency.

Although this oil is thicker than the Tropical Isle Lavender JBCO I usually use, it is still no where close to being as thick as regular clear Cold Pressed, Cold Processed Castor Oil. Which is easier to access, and is also good for thickening, it is just said that JBCO is a bit more potent, and it absorbs easier. I can say that it has helped with growth! My bald areas are still filling in, slowly but surely.

It's not amazing progress, but I do see a slight change, I also have been using it along my hair line, and I have seen little baby hair pop up, so I like it. Oh and this JBCO also gives me soft roots as well. My hair also feels thicker, which is a good thing for me, as I have fine hair.

I have not used it long enough to truly tell which brand is better to be honest, so maybe after another month or so of use, I will get more of a feel for it. As for right now, I think Tropical Isle brand is still my favorite.
In the light of comparing the two, I will give Sunny Isle's Rosemary Jamaican Black Castor Oil, a 4/5, (though I have no idea as to which product line has better service/delivery) as I am still a bit weary on how dark this oil is, and it has a thicker consistency than Tropical Isle brand Jamaican Black Castor Oil.

I will revisit, and see if I like it any better...or worse. I hope this info helps a bit!

Vitale Olive Oil Hair Mayonnaise Review

I do not do protein treatments often, as my hair does not need too much of it, as I have low porosity hair, however, I have made it a habit to do protein treatments every 4-6 weeks.

Usually I whip up a homemade protein treatment, like Mayonnaise & Eggs mixed with an oil, like EVOO ( Extra Virgin Olive Oil), but I found that after having that sit on my head with a shower cap, about 15 minutes later, it starts to drip, and it gets all on my face and neck which is irritating to say the least.

The last couple of times though I have used Vitale Olive Oil Hair Mayonnaise, which I received from one of my good friends from BHP (Black Hair Planet), and I have got to tell you guys, that I adore it!

It is cost effective too,  only $7.29 USD from Sally Beauty, for a 30oz Jar, and being that protein treatments should not be often, maximum of once a month, this conditioner can really last you!

It sort of smells like relaxer, but I kind of like the scent, but that is just me. It  has a thicker consistency, which I love, so that means no dripping, and the ingredients aren't too shabby either!

This conditioner (bold) has ingredients are to help with stimulation as well as dry hair, and does not leave your hair feeling hard as with most protein conditioners, although I do still suggest, that you follow your protein conditioner with a moisturizing, just to assure your hair gets the balance it needs.

This conditioner leaves my hair feeling strong, without feeling like hay afterwards, the only con I have is that the parsley flakes in it can get left behind in your hair, and you have to make sure you rinse your hair well. The scent may bother others with sensitive noses, but I am not bothered by it.


Anyway, with all that being said, I love this conditioner! I finally found a protein conditioner that works! Although it has it's cons- the scent, the flakes, this product still gets a 5/5 from me!

Queen Helene Super Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream (Deep Conditioner) Review

Remember my previous post about not wanting to wash my hair...well I did, and my curls came back immediately, thank the Lord! What I really want to talk about though is this new deep conditioner I have been using. Well it's more like revisited, because I tried it earlier on in my HHJ, and felt so-so about it.


The new deep conditioner is a cholesterol- Queen Helene Super Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream. I have the 907.2g/2 pound one, and it has a pump, which I love, for a reason I'm getting to...

I can't exactly remember how much I paid for this product, but I bought it from Walmart, and I'm pretty sure I got it for less that $7.99 USD, why do I say that, because I am cheap, and have yet to pay $10.00 USD, on any one product!  You can find Cholesterol conditioner, not necessarily this brand, at any BSS or drug store, like Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, etc.  Other brands I have heard of Lustrasilk, Lusti, Hollywood Beauty.

Believe it or not, cholesterol is good for your hair! It is good fat that helps condition and give your hair luster! So this is great for those who have dry/damaged hair!


Now the ingredient's does not sound the best...


Ingredients:  Water (Aqua), Glyceryl Stearate, Mineral Oil, Stearyl Alcohol, Lanolin, Myristamidopropyl, Dimethylamine Phosphate, Cholesterol, Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Keratin Amino Acids, Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (Parfum), Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Yellow #5 (CI# 19140), Yellow #6 (CI# 15985), Red #40 (CI# 16035), Red #33 (CI# 17200).


But believe me it works! I find that it works best if you mix it with oils, or melted shea butter. That is at least what I have used. My favorite combo is to use Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (EVCO). It leaves me with such soft hair, and it's a lot of product for less than 10 bucks! (It also works nice alone, still soft, just not as soft with additives.) The pump makes it worth the money as well because it's less messy, and allows me to get an eye for how much I'm using.


I like this a lot better than the Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol I use to use.


I have been looking for an affordable, moisturizing, deep conditioner, and this is it! Although I love this conditioner to pieces, it will get a 4/5 from me, only because to I have to add oils to get that suppleness I'm looking for!

Goodies!

Hey all,

I have got nothing to report hair wise, I have just been bunning, and doing other simple styles, following my regimen, but today I got a surprise!

I got a Secret Santa gift! On BHP, for the first time, we did Secret Santa, and everyone was given a pal to send a gift to. We all wrote a list of things we wanted, and the secret santa could pick from the list and send the gift. I received mine today.

One of my gifts I am super excited to try is, Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Reconstructurizer. It can be used as a leave in, and heat protectant. I will not be trying this until these braids come out, but it has been something I have been wanting to try since forever. (Thanks again!)

There are a couple of other items I received in my gift box, that I have never tried before. So I will be reviewing those, along with the Aphogee Keratin.

I am hoping I can start doing give away's next year, and do a Christmas/Holiday gift basket. So we will see what the new year brings!

African Royale BRX Braid & Extension Sheen Spray - Review

I use my own concoction to moisturize my braids, but staying with family I came across African Royale BRX Braid Sheen Spray, so I gave it a try.  I have always wanted to use braid spray, but never got around to buying one, I don't wear braids too often, so I suppose that is why.

I sprayed my braids, and made sure to do the full length, and then sprayed my scalp.

It smells nice but literally 5 minutes later, my scalp was itching like crazy! I can't scratch my scalp, so I've been doing the 'Pat My Weave' dance. It does not itch as much since a few hours have passed, but I am quite disappointed. I had high hopes for this braid spray, especially since it was my first time using this product. I must be allergic to one of the ingredients, I am not sure which.


Ingredients:
Deionized Water , Glycerin , Propylene Glycol , PPG-12-PEG-50 Lanolin , Dicetyldimonium Chloride , Polyquaternium 32 & Paraffinum Liquidum , Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia) Leaf Oil , Polysorbate 80 , Oat (Avena Sativa) Kernel Extract , Allantoin , Silk Amino Acids , Sheep Sorrell , Yarrow , Slippery Elm Bark , Sage , Henna , Comfrey , Burdock Root , Goldenseal , Cherry Bark , Ginseng , Black Walnut , Chamomile , Alfalfa , Hyssop , Wheat Germ , Methyl & Propyl Paraben , Fragrance


The spray smells lovely, but I find that it dries very quickly, so I am not sure how moisturized my braids are. Either way, I cannot use it on my scalp. I am going to try to pay attention to the ingredients in this spray, to see if any other products I have contains any of the ingredients and see how my scalp reacts.

Sadly enough trial and error are the only way to see how well your hair will react to a product, luckily for me, I did not have to purchase this spraIy. So if you can try sample sizes, or travel sizes when trying a new product, I suggest doing so. It can save you some money!

As far as moisturizing goes, my hair does not feel any better or worse than it did before I sprayed them with this product, I cannot speak for my scalp, since I had an allergic reaction, so even with only one use, this product did not do it for me.

I guess I can give it a 2 out of 5, just because I like the way it smells!

Review- Beyond The Zone Turn up the Heat Protection Spray

For quite some time I have been contemplating flat ironing my natural tresses. The problem was that I did not own a proper heat protectant, and I've always wanted to invest in one. Reason being is that I had been using Organic Root Stimulator Incredibly Rich Olive Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion as a heat protectant. Now, on the bottle, it states that it can be used for heat protection against heat appliances. The problem I encountered, was product kept building up on the plates of my flat iron.

It could be the combination of oils, and the hair lotion, that caused the build up, but either way, I would have to stop flat ironing to scrape the build up off the plates before continuing, which can be damaging, and strenuous. It also could be that I do not own the best flat iron. I actually only own a mini flat iron, which is okay, since I have naturally thin hair. I am also looking into buying some new appliances. I own a Power IQ Mini Mojo Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron, which I got on sale at SallyBeauty, for about $15.00 USD.

I went to SallyBeauty, and was done to either Silk Elements Megasilk Heat Protection Spray, and Beyond the Zone Turn Up the Heat Protection Spray, I've heard good reviews on both products, and there was only a 10 cent difference between the two. Silk Element was $7.39 USD, $6.99 if you own a SallyBeauty Club Card, (which you can for the the price of $5.00 USD, for a 1 year membership, it gives you discounts on all products, it can really add up!) the Beyond the Zone ws $7.49, since making the decision between the two was hard for me to make, I left it up to one of the sales associates at Sally's.


She told me that Beyond the Zone was the better of the two, so that is what I purchased.

Now on to the Review!

It is a spray of course, and I sprayed it on my damp hair to blow dry with. Immediately I saw the difference, my roots came out a lot straighter using this product, and less frizzy. The scent is awesome too, it is a cross between cake and candy! Now although my roots were straight it was a bit tough to comb my ends, but it could be that I did not detangle properly before hand.

Another thing I immediately noticed was the shine/sheen! It was noticeable with just blow drying. I also flat ironed with ease using this spray. I did not use it sparingly as the instructions says to do, for fear of heat damage. (Heat damage- is when hair is exposed to excess amount of heat at a time, it causes hair to loose it's natural texture, leaving hair limp and straight, it will not revert, and as far as I know, the only way to rid of it, is to cut the damaged hair off)

I would be mindful of how much is used, because it can leave hair feeling oily, I did not experience that, but I'm sure that it can be a factor.

I also did not experience any product build up on my flat iron, it literally glided through. I'm sure this product would be great coupled with a better flat iron. I like my flat iron, however, it does not make me ends straight, it could be my technique.

Taking Down Braids & Mini Review- Suave Shea & Almond Conditoner

After having my hair in pixie braids for the past two weeks, today was the day I decided to start the process of taking them down, and boy was it a process! I really started Saturday night, did not take a lot out, I'd say a quarter or a little less than that. All in all, I'd say it took 7 hours give or take. I coated my hair in Castor oil, and conditioner, to soften my hair, so I'd have less of a chance of my hair knotting up on me, plus it gave my hair a little slip (easy to run through) which was well needed.


I also started to miss my hair, I started to forget what it was like to have 'loose' hair. I took some quick pics so you guys could see how big my hair looked! I think it is because it was stretched.

I went about my regular wash day routine, which I had to forgo last Sunday (my wash days are always on Sunday) because I did not want to get my braids frizzy, so I mainly just rinsed and sealed my ends during those two weeks. I'm trying to finish up my VO5 Moisturizing Milks Strawberries & Cream, because I'd like to try Suave Shea & Almond Shampoo, and I don't want to feel guilty for buying something I don't necessarily need. I'm going to get it soon though, probably some time this week.

Anyway, I do have Suave Shea & Almond conditioner, I've had it for a couple of weeks now, so I decided to give it it's debut today, I've only used it once, but I'm in love! It's the perfect combination of VO5 Moisturizing Milks Strawberries & Cream Conditioner or Herbal Escapes Free Me Freesia, and Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner.

Mind you I have not ran a comb through my hair in nearly two weeks, when I cowash I use a wide tooth comb to detangle, I generously applied Suave Shea & Almond to my hair, of course wet hair, because I just finished shampooing, put my hair under water, and went to work, of course there were a couple of kinks, but it detangled them beautifully. I was literally able to run my fingers through my hair afterwards, so that is a major plus! Pleas remember that what my hair likes, yours may not!

I do find that 'testing' products are the best way for you to figure out your hair's likes/dislikes

I also love the ingredients! Of course it's not completely natural, but the majority of it is good stuff.

This is only based on one use, but this condition is great for cowashing! it has a creamy texture, and has a nice light scent! I will definitely continue to purchase. It's also very fairly prices. Depending on where you purchase you can find it anywhere from $1.80 USD, $4.00 USD. I find that Wal Mart has the better deal, as you get more bang for you buck, as you can get a 32 ounce for $2.49, whereas if you buy at, lets say, Rite Aid, you have to pay $3.49 for a 14.5 ounce bottle.



I am deep conditioning as we speak with Organic Root Stimulator (ORS) Replenishing conditioner, mixed with little Jarrows Formula brand Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil ( I am experimenting to see how this oil can be used best), with a cap, for a little over an hour.( I purchased this coconut oil because it was on sale, and I was always interested in using coconut oil. It also was on sale which made me purchase. However, it is not Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, and does not have a scent, but so far I do like it. It gives my hair shine, and it's good for sealing my ends.)

I have to go rinse, and I think I will put my hair in chunky twists, and use this new 'leave in' conditioner, I just created, I don't want to tell you all what it is until next post! I will let you know what's in it, and how I used it, and all that good stuff! I will also be sure to include pics!

Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner Review

Sometime last week I went to Walgreens on lunch break to get another bottle of VO5 Herbal Escapes Free Me Freesia, and the PJ (product junkie) got the best of me, I broke down and purchased Suave's Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner. Their 15 ounce was on sale for $1.00 USD, so I figured I was not loosing much if my hair did not like it, also I have been wanting to try this for myself since this conditioner is a staple for many natural and transitioning ladies.

I wore rod set curls all of last week, which has been the longest time I've ever kept a rod set. I believe I can contribute that to using  (Olive Oil Eco Styler) gel. I usually use Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion, which is great, and holds my curls well, does not leave my hair crunchy, but it does not give my hair sheen. The gel left a little crunch, but that could be because I did not use anything on top of the gel, but I like curls to be a little crunchy because I think the last longer that way, and my hair had nice sheen.

Anyway, back to the review. Since single strand knots usually decide to come along when I wet my hair and it has not been combed or moisturized in a few days, which was the case yesterday. So, I decided to use Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner as a pre poo by saturating my hair in the conditioner, and wearing a shower cap, for a little over an hour. 


I would say it did a fairly well job at softening my hair, I also did not have to do much work in terms of detangling my hair, I think it would be better if you add an oil to it, for extra moisturizing properties!


I went about my regular wash day regimen...cayenne treatment, clarifying (1-2x a month). I conditioned with Suave again to see how it would  do after my hair had be clarified. Now it did not do so great hair, it was not horrible, but there was a few kinks I had to work out with my wide tooth comb. It could be how I washed my hair that affected how tangly it was, which I will have to try again to see if my theory is true.


So far I like the product, I think it will serve as a better prepoo, than a cowashing conditioner, but again, we'll see, it could be that I just have a bad shampooing method that causes tangles, I'll post again sometime soon to see if my experience differs next time.

V05 Herbal Escapes Free Me Freesia Review

I'm sure that you all aware that whether you are relaxed, texlaxed, transitioning, or natural, hair needs moisture! So it's always a great idea to follow cowashing (to cleanse hair by using conditioner as you would while shampooing, ie. saturate hair, rub scalp, and make sure it gets on hair and ends, and detangle while rinsing. This helps hair stay moisturized and clean in between washes) with a leave in conditioner.

Now I have never invested in an actual leave in conditioner, but double my cowashing conditioners as leave ins. I have not experiences film or build up using cowashing conditioners, but up until now, I have always used VO5's Moisturizing Milks Strawberries & Cream, which I absolutely swear by. However, VO5's Free Me Freesia, also does a great job at leaving my hair feeling soft and moisturized. Now if you have ever used Alberto-Culver Products, you would know that their conditioner, is a bit thin in consistency, so it something that you cannot use sparingly, which I feel is fine, because if it's price, it is 99 cents at CVS and some drugs stores, but some try to Charge 1 (USD) dollar and change, so I always try to get it where I can get it for the cheapest.

I was long due for a shampoo and cowash last night, as I had been using Olive Oil Eco Styler Gel, for a good portion of the week, for shingling, and slicking my hair down for pony tails. So I shampooed and cowashed, and used Alberto-Culver's VO5 Free Me Freesia, as a leave in, and decided to put my hair in chunky twists overnight, with a satin bonnet. My hair felt like silk in the morning! Very soft, but not mushy, smells great, if you like the smell of lavender/floral , and it helped my hair hold some curl! The ingredients are pretty decent as well, better than some more expensive products, in my opinion.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Stearalkonium Chloride, Stearoyl Alcohol, Steareth-21, Glyceryl Stearate, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Glycerin, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Extract, Freesia Refract Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Biotin, Niacinamide, Polysorbate 20, Ascorbic Acid, Panthenol, Propylene Glycol, Benzophenone 4, Disodium Edta, Dmdm Hydantoin, Fragrance (Parfum), Ext. Violet 2.

 This product will definitely be a staple in my arsenal! 5/5!

Review and Results of using Olive Oil Eco Styler Gel

I have tried shingling with cheap dollar store gel, and it left my hair a stiff mess. Now that I know I am to add moisture in my hair like an oil or a leave in, that could have then the reason it turned out crunchy, but it also turned out flaky, and I am sure it would have still turned out flaky.

Everyone has always compared Eco Styler Gel, with Kinky Curly Curing Custard, so I wanted to give it a try myself. I went out to CVS and purchased a 32 ounce tub of Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel, (for 4.99) because I felt that it would dry my hair out a bit less than one without it. I went to a Beauty Supply Store, and found  that the same one I had cost 3.49, so I would look around before buying it somewhere, because it is priced differently, depending where you go.

It does not have a very pungent scent, which is pleasant. It was thicker in texture/density, than I thought it would have been, but it was not very hard to distribute. It gave me great curl definition, but, not air drying could be the reason my hair came out slightly crunchy, and maybe not as elongated, or simply me not adding moisture to the top layer,  and drying with a blow dryer. I am going to try again sometime soon and test my theory.

I think Eco Styler Gel is an awesome alternative for those cannot afford KCCC, or are simply on a tight budget, (and people like me who cannot bring themselves to spend 20 dollars on one product) (lol). 

4.5/5- I am going to try it another time to see if I like it any better by air drying.
